Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor:
Why must the West continue to act as Janissaries - hired guards - protecting the despotic Saudi regime that appears to despise us so? Must we ask for nothing for our servile posture, other than the 'privilege' of enriching the petroleum princes through oil purchases We must ask for more. Demand the House of Saud give up its "guest," former Ugandan dictator Idi Amin. For two decades, Big Daddy has enjoyed life, gorging on oranges while his homeland struggled to overcome his brutal legacy. If anything qualifies as terrorism, Amin's rule in Africa, leading up to and including the war with Tanzania, did.
Demand the butcher be brought to the bar of justice. Surrender Amin to the War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague. It is the least we can do in maintaining a modicum of self-respect.
