Gary Byrd:

"You're on the GBE. Good morning, my brother."

Morris Powell:

"Yeah, this is, as I said before, this is Powell of the Buy Black Steering Committee of the Mass Action Network."

Gary Byrd:

"Brother Morris Powell, right?"

Morris Powell:

"Yes, in cahoots with the African Nationalist Pioneer Movement, Buy Black Campaign Committee, we spearheaded the drive on the picket against Freddy's who are tryin' to drive Brother Shange out of business at the Record Shack."

Gary Byrd:

"Yes, this is a piece that happened over the weekend, right?"

Morris Powell:

"This happened Saturday and Sunday. We was out there yesterday also, and they be closed for the Jewish holidays Monday and Tuesday, today and tomorrow, and we'll be there Wednesday. We gonna be there everyday. We gonna have a picket on them every day until they agree to renew Brother Shange's lease."

Gary Byrd:

"And you might want to point out, Morris, that Brother Shange's been there for quite a long time."

Morris Powell:

"He's been there for close to twenty years and always kickin' back to the community, not only on a local level, but also on the international level he give back to his people. And these people haven't been there no more than a year and a half, because they bought the lease off of the meat market that was in the same place. They just got there just not so long ago."

Gary Byrd:

"OK. I gotta move on, but let me just make sure we get a point on this. What's the schedule gonna be for the demonstrations again?"

Morris Powell:

"We gonna be there from the time they open to the time they close."

Gary Byrd:

"And that's gonna start when, tomorrow?"

Morris Powell:

"Wednesday."

Gary Byrd:

"Wednesday, OK."

Morris Powell:

"It will be closed these two days, and then they gonna open again Wednesday, and we will be there. We be there to greet 'em, and we be there -- when they say good-bye to 'em."

Gary Byrd:

"I appreciate it, my brother. We appreciate your support on this particular effort. Brother Shange deserves all of our support."
