Powell Endorsement Of "Geneva Accord" Undermines Concept Of Democracy

Secretary of State Colin Powell's endorsement of a so-called IsraeliPalestinian "peace agreement" today in Geneva - an event that not a single representative of the Israeli government attended or participated in - completely undermines the democratically-elected government of Israel, the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA) declared today.

"This agreement is a total sham," said JINSA executive director Tom Neumann. "Its architect, Yossi Beilin, has no power or authority in the Israeli political system. In fact, as columnist Charles Krauthammer pointed out last week, Beilin lost his seat in the Knesset because he is 'one of Israel's most reviled and discredited politicians.' "

Furthermore, his Palestinian 'partner,' Yasser Abed Rabbo, is a shadowy character who is very likely working directly under the authority of Yasser Arafat, a man that President Bush has made clear should not be dealt with under any circumstance," Neumann said
