DAVID L. MAHER HONORED BY UNITED JEWISH APPEAL

David I. Maher, president and chief operating officer of American Stores Company of Salt Lake City, Utah, was honored by UJA-Federation of New York's Beauty & Fragrance Division Tuesday, December 3 at the Grand Hyatt in Manhattan.

Mr. Maher served as Chairman of the Board of the National Association of Chain drug Stores in 1996 and 1996 and in 1994 was named Chain Drug Retainer of the Year by the editors of Chain Drug Review. His philanthropic interests are quite diverse and include fundraising for minority educational programs as well as pharmacy school building programs throughout the country.

Dinner co-chairs were Thomas Ryan, president and chief executive officer of CVS, and George Fellows, president and chief operating officer of Revlon. The keynote speaker of the evening was Mario M. Cuomo, the former Governor of the State of New York.

Mr. Cuomo, a most compelling and interesting speaker, gave a wonderful presentation outlining the good work of UJA.
